I am a Franciscan priest. I spent my early years of ministry in New Mexico working among the Pueblo Native Americans and the Hispanics. In 1978 I began my years in academics working as a chaplain, faculty member, and administrator at various universities in the southwest and the midwest. I taught various course in theology, especially in my area of specialty which is moral theology. I have been the Vocation Director for the Province of Saint John the Baptist since 2003.

Admissions Board Approves Two for Postulancy

Saturday, May 17, 2014 the Admissions Board of the Franciscan Province of St. John the Baptist approved Jonathon Douglas and Carlo Shivel for the 2014 Postulancy Class. These are the first to be approved this year. There will be another Admissions Board in June.


Carlo ShivelCarlo Shivel (19) was born and raised in London, KY. He graduated in 2013 from North Laurel High School and is presently attending classes at Morehead State University, Morehead, KY. Carlo works at Steak 'n Shake and is active in both his home parish and the Newman Center at Morehead.


Jonothan DouglasJonathon Douglas (18) is from Cleveland, OH and a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Brooklyn, OH. He is a 2013 graduate of Parma High School and works as a server for a Catering Service. Jonathon spend a number of months in our missions in Jamiaca.


We welcome both of these men into our Postulancy Program where they will begin their initial formation as Franciscan Friars. We wish them well and assure them of our prayers and support.
