The Lord Provides

I arrived in Atlanta International Airport last Thursday and looked at the schedule board for gate information for my flight to Houston. Houston was not listed! So I asked the gate attendant why and she informed me that all flights to Houston that afternoon and the next day were cancelled due to icing along the gulf coast. I went to the help desk and found that only the first flight to Houston the next day was already cancelled and the attendant got me a ticket on a late morning flight. He also offered me a voucher for a room at a local motel and gave me a little travel kit with necessities--tooth paste, comb, deodorant, and a T shirt. My luggage was somewhere in the bowels of the Atlanta Airport BUT that morning, for some unknown reason, I had packed a change of clothes in the carry-on bag.

So after a night's rest, and wearing the clean clothes I had packed "by chance", I returned to the airport and indeed got to Houston late Friday afternoon. Now I'm about 24 hours late beginning my itinerary nd not sure what the weather held in store.

However, after a delicious meal with Fr. Page and a good night's sleep, I set out and managed to do Friday and Saturday's itineraries in one day. It was a long day but a very rewarding one. I managed to get to my destinations in good weather, administer a Behavioral Assessment to a prospective, and return to Houston to enjoy supper with another young man discerning our way of life.

Sunday I drove to Richmond and visited with another prospective and his family--as well as giving information to a couple of other young men who said that they are thinking about joining us Franciscans. Then I returned to Houston to watch the Super Bowl and was very pleased with the results. The weather was beautiful--temperatures in the high 60s and sunny.

Today is a good day for travel. I am presently at the Atlanta International Airport again awaiting my flight to Cincinnati. I think that I will be facing some cold and snow when I get there, but not too bad.

While the trip started off a bit rocky and I had to double up events on Saturday, I am returning home with a sense of accomplishment and joy. I experiences good fraternity, met some very accommodating people at Delta Airlines, and met with three good young men discerning our way of life.

God is good!!!

I am glad it all worked out so well. God is good. Sometimes we just have to be patient to see it!!
