The JPA is half over. Things seem to be going well and we are doing what we came here to do; namely, meet the memebers of each province and continue to discern our future.
I am using the videocam and should have a video ready for posting early next week.
Every third year, Saint John the Baptist province has an All-Province Assembly (APA). These are fraternal gatherings at which we usually have some informational/educational input and maybe address some issues in preparation for the Provincial Chapter the following year. This year we are having a Joint Province Assembly (JPA) because we are meeting with the members of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Province to discuss our possible future together as a new province.
We will gather at St. Xavier University in Chicago from Monday afternoon, May 24, through Friday noon, May 28. Over the past decade or more I have been on the planning committee for the APA and knew exactly what we were going to do. This time I am not, so I do not know what's going to happen outside of a general schematic which lists meetings, prayer times, meals, etc. But, I am taking a video cam and a digital camera and hopefully will be able to post some pictures/videos here and on YouTube during the week.
So say a prayer or two, if you would, please that the Holy Spirit--whose Solemnity we celebrate Sunday at Pentecost--will be with us to lead and guide our discernment.
This evening I attended a stunning performance of J. S. Bach's Saint Matthew's Passion at the Cincinnati May Festival. All I can say is that Bach must have been a man of deep faith with a passionate love for the Lord. What a moving experience!!!
