I am a Franciscan priest. I spent my early years of ministry in New Mexico working among the Pueblo Native Americans and the Hispanics. In 1978 I began my years in academics working as a chaplain, faculty member, and administrator at various universities in the southwest and the midwest. I taught various course in theology, especially in my area of specialty which is moral theology. I have been the Vocation Director for the Province of Saint John the Baptist since 2003.

Sixth member of the 2010 Class of Postulants Admitted

Pierce Gibson The Admissions Board of Saint John the Baptist admitted Pierce Gibson to the 2010 Postulancy Class. Pierce joins five others approved at previous meetings of the Board. (see http://vocationvibes.franciscan.org/2010/01/index.html

Pierce is 23 years old and comes from Round Rock, TX. He is presently about to graduate from the University of Dallas with a BA in Philosophy and Letters. He has been living at Holy Trinity Seminary studying for the Diocese of Austin, Texas for the past four years.


Pierce enjoys tennis and golf but his first passion is philosophy and he is quite well versed in Aristotelian and Thomistic philosophy. He hopes to someday teach as a Franciscan priest.


We welcome Pierce and pray for him and his five classmates who will begin their year of Postulancy July 1, 2010.
